How to create a Photo Gallery

If you haven't yet given your site a name and a description, please do so before trying to create any pages.

Any link on the My Web Pages menu (left) will take you to the control panel for your site (pictured below).

Step one: click on the dropdown below Create New Page icon and select Gallery.

Step two: Click on the Create New Page icon.

Step three: Give your Gallery page a name and write something in the (slightly over-sized)! description box just to give us an idea of what to expect (or, if you prefer, to lead us to expect something entirely different).

Step four: scroll down to below the Description box and you can, if you like, add your name (or whatever) in the Watermark box.  When your pictures are uploaded, this "watermark" will be stamped on each picture.  It actually looks more as if you had typed it on with black ink but it's a nice idea.

Step five: - (Always a bad idea to have instructions that get as far as Step 5 but this is actually the easiest page to create.  I'm just making it sound difficult).  Here (below) is what you will see when you scroll down below the box where you entered your description.

Just click on the browse button for Image 1 and navigate to the folder on your own computer that holds the images you wish to upload.  Select your first image and click Open (or just double-click the image). Write a caption to describe your image then move on to upload Image 2 in the same way.

Note: when you navigate to the image, be careful to go to the actual folder that holds the image.  If, for example, you have a shortcut on your desktop to an image that is in the My Pictures folder, make sure that you upload the picture directly from the My Pictures folder i.e. don't try to upload the shortcut.  (I can't actually make that mistake on my own computer, for some reason, but I've heard that it's possible).

Step six: don't forget this bit! When you're finished uploading, click on SAVE (top right).  Job done.
