Welcome to Personal Pages Help.
Almost everyone hates instruction manuals and complex procedures but, in this case, there's no need to get "techy" because the Personal Pages feature has been designed to be easy to use in spite of it's hidden depths.
One of the main reasons for having a Personal Page is to allow members to say a bit more about themselves than the normal "User Profile" permits. The Forum and the Chat Room are great for communicating but it's good to know something about who you're talking to: what are their hobbys/recreation, their interests, like/dislikes; what they look like! The web is also a great place to share information or links to favourite/useful web sites so, hopefully, there will be a not a few interesting contributions in that way.
The best way to create a web site, of any kind, is to let it evolve, naturally. Some designers like to plan everything firstly and then create their masterpiece, but some of the best web sites have just growed, like Topsy. (I think we've actually got a Topsy)!
So, DON'T READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! Unless, you already have a plan, just treat your first web page like a Word document. That's pretty much what a Standard web page is. You click a button to open a new page, you write something, and you click SAVE.
One nice thing: if you don't feel that what you've written is quite ready for public consumption, you don't have to "publish" it. You've saved what you've written but no-one else will be able to see it until it's "published." Apart from that gem, there's nothing you need to know or learn in order to create a web page and, if and when you do want to get a bit more ambitious in terms of formatting text, adding images and links, and creating a more complex page layout, just come back to this Help page and get the instructions you need, when you need them.
If you find that your question isn't answered in any of the links above, please post to the Personal Pages Topic in the Forum. You'll be helping more than you think because we can add the answer to your question to the Help pages.
