I think I must be suffering from empty nest syndrome our Sarah has joined up and it only leaves Sean at home, although he's at work all day and out all weekend, the place is so quiet. Its not too bad when Franks around but when he's at work too even the dogs are subdued.I'm busy enough, loads to do as well as taking the dogs out twice a day but its the deathly quiet, I'm used to banging crashing and music and running upstairs, although I do put the radio on, its just not the same. Has anyone else gone through this? does it get better? I thought I'd love a bit of peace and time to myself, I hate it...help...

Hi Val, Just stop and think ??  Now you can do your own thing, anytime?? Your own Music and your Dogs to relax and enjoy with. I expect it must come hard with the BIG change, but please, give yourself Time to adjust??
When i was on my own for seven years, i was fortunate, to 'plough' myself back into Work -- The only self time, was at night, listening to my music, lights out, curtains drawn and I put myself into another world -- that was my only escape --- Luckily, I survived!!

Thank you folks at least now I know I'll get used to it, I am thankful I'm not on my own completely. When Sean goes I expect we'd move to a smaller place, a bungalow or something, I couldn't rattle around here with just the 2 of us.

Hello Val,  Don't forget with your computer -- The World is Your Oyster?? So much easier to 'chat' to friends as I do using SKYPE and it's FREE???

Val, true it's an enormous change, but you will get accustomed to it. When I have become a single again about eleven years ago, I hated it to go home in the new empty, dark and cold house, but now this house has become a "place of retreat" for me and I enjoy it to switch on the computer in the evening!

I've been without the computer for a few days, the internet router went and we couldn't get online, its all fixed now thank goodness, the house has never looked so clean. lol..I think I'm getting used to Sarah being away now, it doesn't seem so bleak and awful, I hope that choking feeling doesn't come back, it was truly like a great sadness descending.

She's doing her basic training at the moment, can't say much more about her job, its classified and she won't and can't tell me.I used to do loads of jigsaws years ago, the computer takes up most of my time now.

Its good though Mac isn't it, I was talking to another dog walker the other day, he is feeling a bit lonely and bored, he's 68 and we told him, get a computer and get on the internet, he said but what about the brain box, he'd been used to using it in his job. We said it will do your head in and tax the brain alright and we thoroughly recommend it, I haven't seen him since lol. I wonder if he's looking into it all.

True, the computer is really good, if you feel lonely.
