sometime ago my tongue decided as usual to do it's own thing in other words speak before the brain had completely woken up, I turned to my friend and said I was having a SENIOR MOMENT, "Oh no" he said "You're just having an INTELLECTUAL INTERLUDE"

What a nice expression, Geraldine.
By the way - from time to time you must excuse my English - as I'm German and we, here, in Germany learn UK English as well as American English I either use the wrong word or intermix the two. However, I'm very happy, if you correct me.

:)Teri I have a lovely friend actually she is married to my sons best friend she is also German and she learnt english by watching a television series called the YOUNG ONES, and she wondered why she got funny looks when she used certain words, her english is brilliant now but we still laugh about it.

ok you lot beat this, my classic intellectual interlude.
Sainsburys cash desk all my groceries are through and I have paid the bill everything is packed into bags and there are people waiting, bother, damn and blast I have lost them, I turned to the cashier, now here I must point out this is our regular shop and everybody knows my husband and his mother, the girls love teasing Paul and they have threatened to organise a wheelchair race for him, anyway, what, pardon, oh yes I remember I was there at the cash desk all my groceries had gone through, oh we've done that, well the cashier said had I lost something I said yes my sunglasses, I can't find them, the woman next to me burst out laughing, the cashier tried to be diplomatic and pointed no I hadn't got them pushed up on my head, I WAS WEARING THEM, no beat that

Here's another phrase for having an 'intellectual moment.'
I must stress this is not mine! It's my lady nurse friend who taught me this. So please be understanding
She calls it a
CRAFT
MOMENT.
