...now that I will have to pay £25 to drive into the smokey congestion area in London - if we charged the people who live in that area £50 to travel into our less congested cleaner air part of the country?Huh  You have to laugh at these ideas don't you - if the congestion which is causing unhealthy conditions in London was taken seriously, traffic would be banned - but as it is it's Ok to polute the area if you're prepared to pay a tax on it.  Wonder what's next - a license to be a binge drinker - or maybe a burglar would be prepared to pay a special tax - maybe if joyriders got themselves licensed it would raise quite a bit of revenue for the government.  One thing you can be sure of, none of it would be allocated to OAP.s - I know we get free bus travel but for a lot of people without any extra private income that just means that they can be hungry on a bus as easily as at home.  Just in case anyone hasn't spotted it - I'm a bit fed up with the way pensioners are treated...

Cheers All,

Ian

These are the good old days to the young of today.
Too much doom and gloom on this forum at the moment, we cant expect to attract new members until we stop living in the past. it is now up to the younger generation to alter things. We can talk and dream of the past but as fat as I am concerned, live for the present and make the most of it.

This site is what we make it and we alone !
Since when have the young cared about anything, thats what being young is all about William......they are our future !
we can only guide them X Kiss

Have to agree with Mac here. I am pleased this Forum is just for the over 50s. To 'listen' to their stories and experiances of life. -- The younger generation just don't want to be on the same 'wavelength' and we can't blame them.-- They are or should be, responcible for their own lives and the way they chose to live??  Possibly they will also have Their over 50s Forum, in years to come?? --

We havnt, and we dont want any young on here, they have thier own site.Mac you say this forum is what we make it, true, so i think we should forget the doom and gloom and discus things in a more lighthearted manner.
Pheonix quotes drugs and sex amongst the young, of course it exists, but only of a minority.I have familt, you have family Mac, my family has family, none of whom are on drugs, i certainly dont know of any youngsters in this village on drugs.
back in the good old days can you remember the mods and rockers, going about in gangs, fighting and causing dqamage wherever the went.

here is a thought........
do you think the kids of today behave badly for attention..
attention they dont get at home..............
food for thought.
maybe thats why our kids and grandkids are ok ?

I agree that 90% of the problems with young today is, lacl of parental control. Is the answer then to punish the parents. Maybe if the punishment was harsh enough, they might, just might pay more attention to them.
