Even if their wages in the UK are lower than those of normal British workers they are still much higher than in Poland.
It's the same with our immigrants. The costs of living in their mother countries are by far lower than ours, so with the money they send home their family can lead a decent life.

You know Hugo Boss is a German and also making wonderful clothes especially for men, but it's true his products are not really cheap.

Though not aware that Hugo boss is German. I am aware that most things of German origin, are Quality Products. I have a pair of Trousers, made in Germany which do not crease much either. Unfortunately, we do not have a German Car now, but may well change --- Sometime, as I prefer larger cars:

Hope those cars are not so expensive in the UK as they are in Germany.

That's valid for each European country. Costs of living have increased everywhere.

I can't judge, but some years ago I read somewhere that you get a basic pension, whereas in Germany the amount of the pension is dependent on the money you paid into the system as long as you worked.
However, in Germany there are also a lot of senior citizens that only have a small amount available every month, for instance if you have been without work for a very long period and only earned a small wage and your wife didn't work because of the children.

it is the same here Teri
everyone gets a basic pension
this is earnings related now
so some get more than others depending on what you paid in.
The problem lies with the cut off line for benefits.
The ones getting only the state pension get it topped up and get rate rebates and rent paid for them etc.
The ones who paid into a private pension scheme might only be a couple of quid better off than those who didnt pay it in,but they get no benefits, therefore, have it all to pay
including tax.
This is why some people think the system is so unfair, pay it in and you get penalised, dont pay it in and you get the benefits !
A lot of the pensioners now think they were wrong to pay into any kind of pension scheme, and to buy their own home.
example: some friends didnt pay into a private pension they live in a rented house they get the state pension and rent paid and rates paid and all the handouts that are offered, some paid into it and had their own houses and they are penalised by not getting the free handouts, and they may only be a few pounds short of getting it.Therefore all they worked for is taken from them either in tax or they get no benefits.

What you write is true, it's the same in Germany. However, I think every person has still left a "pride". As I told formerly I worked in the administration and it's not so easy to go begging for money. There are people who don't mind doing it, but for me it would be an awful thought. So, in my opinion it depends on your personality, i.e. I'm very proud that I always was able to earn my living by myself and that even now that I'm old I don't need any supporting aid from someone.
