Thanks, I thought there might be something both naughty and nice about a "fried slice"!! It sounds quite decadent.I used to love bread fried in bacon fat, but I don't do that anymore.
I imagine that all regions of all countries have their own little "meal stretchers" whether it be dumplings, pancakes or whatever. I had a leek pudding a few years ago, I believe that is a Geordie speciality. Very nice too!!

It's quiet in here. Where are you all? Already on holidays? In Germany it's hot, so I can understand that people don't want to sit in front of the computer, but as far as I know the temperatures are still moderate in the UK.

Well, it's rather cold down in Darkest Africa!!! Is Cowheel Pie for real or was it a Ken Dodd joke?? I can't imagine eating that. Mind you, Jacqui comes home with things like tongue and pig's feet and swears they are delicious. I make sure I am not around when they eat that stuff!!! Maybe it was food like that that started the hundred years war!!!

Pigs feet are called pigs trotters in yorkshire, it was a dish for the poor in my young day, and have eaten it many times, believe me it is delicious.
Never heard of cowheel pie, bur dare i say it,cow pie is the droppings of a cow,you know the round thing you find in a field of cows, i hastily add, its never eaten lol.

Cowheel as I remember it was like lumps of goo
it was not meat as such and ,tasted to me, awful, they put it in with the beef to make it go further,it also thickened the stew.Cowpie is a different thing altogether its all meat here and the pastry has horns lol
I hope you got the "rennies" in William !!! if I had that for my supper i would be up all night lol

Some of us oldies, are still around and looking in, now and then. Yesterday was very HOT!! Too much for the garden and for going out in -- so it was just a lazy day indoors and generally, having a read??-- Oh! Yes! Must not forget The Tennis ?? -- Well ?? Just gettting a Rain shower now ---Only because I cleaned the rear guttering and Fed/watered the plants this morning?? --They did look rather 'miserable' with their drooping leaves Bless Them??
Had a busy morning and even took our 'misty' out for a walk -- I needed that too
??
