Phoenix what about settling in Germany, we sometimes would need someone to sweep the pavements and collect the rubbish. Germany is no longer as clean as it used to be.

Do you still have enough wardens in the UK - in Germany you nearly never see one. They seem to have disappeared.

Same here, but our policemen have such a lot of other tasks with all those drug addicts and drug dealers. In Germany sometimes unemployed people are used as wardens and get one or two Euro per hour, but often they don't like their job and so just don't arrive in the morning, even if their income support is reduced in this case.

Phoenix, how people changed during the last decades. When I was a child everyone helped everyone.

Usually if you have to deal with one or two they are kind and nice, but if it's a gang the situation is different.

Teri,Of course people have 'changed' over the last few decades. Now perhaps you can understand, just what us pensioner's are really up 'against?? i.e. the difference in Standards and Disapline, which No Longer Excists!!
Yes!! Of course We Are the Generation, that was 'Taught' to help othere's!! -- Trouble with 'children??  there was an Occassion, in the past. We had Knocks on The front door and 'things' put through Our letter box!! -- not just once or twice , but VERY MANY TIMES and with GREAT FREQUENCY!!
Eve's Health was going through a very Bad Time and She had a few breakdowns because of those Problems?? -- Our 'circle' of friends got together and actually caught The 'Buggers' Took them to their Parents, some said they actually KNEW THEIR CHILDREN DID IT ? Eve wanted to move Home THERE and Then!! Can you actually understand just WHY?? I CONDEMN those  irresponcible Parents of today!!  Sure it was The minority as most people stand up and State?? -- But it is The Minority?? That Does Not 'pay' The penalty, for their Crimes!!

Phoenix you are right, modern parents have other views regarding the "education" of children and my son-in-law is also of the opinion that I'm still old-fashioned in this respect. On the other side I must say, I nearly never have  problems with my pupils (only very seldom with their parents) - I just explain them why I don't find it good when they behave in a way I don't like. On the other side I try to deal with them in the same way I would deal with an adult and I try never to expect from them something I wouldn't be prepared to do.

I believe in being -- "Conventional" in the way that We was brought up?? -- Knowing Right from Wrong and with Disipline and Respect for othere's !!
 Just what is so wrong with those Standards for Today's youngsters -- Mind you, some parents just have absolutely ------ No Idea of those meanings, so what can one expect??
