Sunday Morning

Country Boy did you spend some time in Germany or why have you learnt German - I noticed that it's none of the favourite foreign languages of the Brits.

Early MORNING rain

Terri, I have a good friend who I started writing to as a pen friend in 1946.  He and his family live in Leverkusen and he spent his working life with Bayer Industries - not sure exactly what he did but he has written two or three books about his work, like me he is now retired.  I have visited him a couple of times hence my interest in learning the German language.  Also my Great Grandmother on my mother's side was born in Hanover, her surname name was Feldman - she came to England to work in service at some time in the past, then she stayed here, married, and the rest is history as they say.

LISTEN do you want to know a secret

Aint much more to tell Mac - well not of interest anyway - once tried to trace my ancestors without much success - trouble was many years ago it was traditional to keep using the same two or three christian names for boys so it gets very hard identifying which was which.  All I really know is that on my fathers side our family appeared to come to England with the Norman conquest around 1066.  Heck and |I feel about that old nowadays  LOL.

Secret Garden Song

Country Boy, as per the German telephone book there are a lot of "Feldmann" living in Hannover. Maybe you should get in touch with the church there - the parish registers are ideal, if you are looking for ancestors.

GARDEN of Eden

I gave up looking some time ago - I now have a neice who is really well into the ancestor research - she just lets me know if there's anything interesting but it's very slow work - reckon I've more chance of meeting some of the ancesters before she catches up with things.  LOL

Gates of Eden

It's true it's a lot of work to find traces of ones ancestors - my aunt has been working on this subject now for more than 15 years and there are still gaps ......
