Now we note the MPs are up in arms about the 1/2 weekly collections??-- this warm weather must be breeding lots of Flies and Maggots ??-- We cannot understand just why the Bins had to be put back to 2 weeks collection?? -- Is it only because of saving money at the risk of health??

Well i only put the wheelie bin out once a fortnight anyway depending on how much is in .. if ive been doing the garden it goes out every week, has thats the only bin we have for garden waste, a bit difficult for families though once a fornight though, pity the packaging was decreased on most things mebey that would help us all!!

With two of us, we don't have much waste. For the garden bin (brown) we tidy the garden/mow lawns, when bin due to go out.--All personal Info: is shredded. -- Bottles to the Bottle bank!!-- The drawback?? is plastic!! Some can be recycled, some cannot?? -- Excesspackaging?? should be up to the Supermarkets/shops,  as a programme on Tv pointed out -- a lot is quite unneccessary. As for the larger families -- their bins seem to overflow and it is not always their fault. I am sure that most people do try to do their best!!

I have no problem with 2wks collection but im on my own.
Previously when it was a weekly collection with the black plastic bags, some houses had anything from 3 to 7 or 8 bags out weekly. How do they manage now with 1 weelie bin and a collection every 2 weeks.

I have loads of waste  Shocked
I dont know where it comes from, mainly plastic !
because I live in a flat, the town hall decided we dont get a green bin for garden waste, anyhow we got one from the man next door, and the council refused to empty it ! Undecided we have a gardener who mows the lawns every 2 weeks ! and the bin was soon full to the brim,(funny cos nobody elses in the road was)we are just 8 flats in total I might add.
Who is it in the town hall who says we are not permitted a green bin ? or a black one for tins and glass,or a white bag for the papers ! yet they get £8,800.00 a year rates from us here. Huh
ps. we got round the green bin,the guy next door said we can put it outside his place..........and lo and behold they emptied it ! Roll Eyes

Mac, You have a point there!! A Bin for Glass Bottles!! We seem to collect rather a lot and put them in a large bag and take to the 'Bottle Bin' near the supermarket. IF ?? people did have a Bottle Bin, it would at least keep all glass separate, from Tins, Paper and Plastic and make the task easier for those who do the 'sorting' ?? -- We also shred our private material, but some councils say that 'gums up' their machines!! -- As you have Lawns, one would expect you to have the appropiate bin for the waste and the council should be aware of your needs. Hope you get sorted to make your life easier as it should be for all:

Hi Phoenix
not in stockport but in manchester they have different coloured bins
Green for bio degradable
blue for bottles
brown for tins
black for rubbish
white for papers
lots of bins though ! but good idea.
Here in stockport we have
black
green
black bag !
white paper bag for papers ! but it works.
A lorry comes once a fortnight to collect them it has compartments for the different kinds of rubbish to go into, and its all automated.!

Oh! Dear! Mac, Your Council, seems to have it's Head in the right place?? -- If One Concil can do it 'properly' why not othere's?? -- Sure it is a lot of Bins and possibly akward for people to place -- But what a 'Brilliant' Idea!!  So much Easier and certainly Cleaner!!

Well the council get a Government grant for it. Like all well meaning Government grants -they do get abused !
Usually by people who complain about the government !
