Identity Cards
«

Watching the events unfold as they have happened over the weekend in both London and Glasgow its is clear that we owe a lot to technology for the swiftness of detection.
It has now been revealed that by tracing calls on mobiles found in the two cars left abandoned in London that they were already on to the two men in glasgow prior to the attack on Glasgow Airport..This could explain the failare of the car to detonate, I would suggest that the men realised that there cover was blown and hurridly set up an attack plan( it may be that the same thing had happened in London, it would explained why both devices failed.. Using CCTV cameras its easy for the police to follow backwards the journey of the car from the Airport.
I think we might owe a great debt to what some call big brother tactics in the future.
In the light of recent events I believe the Identity card programme should be introduced as soon as possible...It may not stop all terrorist's from getting through, but it will make it a lot harder for them.
What do the rest of you think...

Hello Skeggy, Am happy to see these Debates, continuing!!With due regard to the latest events, I can only say, the reaction of our police force was excemplery,in that, No People were Injured!! -- It is of course Debatable,as to the usage of CCTV Camera's, likewise, with Identity Cards, there is always for and against and one should consider, all aspects. The antics of Big Brother, should not be misconstrued, as there are always, Benifits and Demerits!!
1/ To compile personal information about our Citizens, thereby infringing their personal Rights!!
2/ To enable the police to catch Criminals, of which I chose to believe in, Zero Tolerance!!
3/ Due to the complete disregard of Vetting the immigrants arriving into our country, it is without a doubt, that some Terrorists, are already Living here!!
Akin To, Closing The Stable Door When The Horse Has gone??

Hi Pheo...I believe we should bring in the ID cards asap so that more don't get in unoticed...I've always said if you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to worry about, I worked in a Jobcentre for a short time so i know that ID cards would make it a lot harder to get away with benefit fruad. No scheme is perfect but its got to be a lot better than the system we have now. Its clear from what i've seen on the TV news that they are considering tightening our border controls, and not before time. So i think you will find the ID card scheme will start getting pushed through soon

Hi Skeggy, Yes!! A Great Idea. We did have them during the last war. But!! I feel A Photo: should be added -- not sure if i would go along with 'Finger Prints'??
At this moment in time!!-- "MPs and Civil Rights Groups are asking the public, to urge the government to Stop holding the DNA of Innocent people"-- The Police have the power to take and store DNA from everyone they arrest for a recordable offence, Including, Drunk and Disorderly and taking part in an Illegal demonstration. The UK. has the Biggest Database of Citizens DNA in The World--About 3.4 million people's DNA is Stored in UK. Police Records - Including 1000,000 children, never been charged with a Criminal Offence!! This Country also has far more CCTV camera's than any other European country Installed ??

As for the cost of these cards, what cost do you put on a persons life, If they only save 1 life then they will be worth it
I can't and don't understand this question of human rights . like i say if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear.. they can have my DNA finger prints and anything else for that matter...If we are talking about human rights what human has the right to take my life, to steal my belongings or defraud the country of my taxes. The only person who will have there rights removed are those that deserve what they get, lets get real folks we are in a war situation here, how long before a bomb explodes and kills dozens of people ..I would be willing to see any security measure coming in rather that 1 more senceless death

The last I saw about Identity cards regarding costs, was between -£50/60 - I can only assume, a photogragh will be required. - Whether it is possible for them to 'save' a life, I have absolutely no Idea!!-- With regard to Human Rights?? -Elderly Citizens, in Residential Homes, Have No Human Rights. Is That Fair?? - Criminals Do Have Human Rights and are Better protected!! Likewise, If a criminal breaks into your home?? You must be carefull 'they' do not get Hurt, as you can be sued!! If you get killed whilst Defending you and your's,'They' will not have to 'forfeit' their life!! This has been the proven case, many times!!
I believe security is hard to 'define' and costs are extremely high to give a full and total protection. Quite a few people are now asking for Zero Tolerance?? They could be right?? Jails are overfull, prisoners receiving early release and being handed £200 (b&b)??
How does the Government, Overcome, this Problem??
