Me thinks that William just wanted someone to 'clear' the snow away??  here it did not stay long enoughCould even be a White christmas?? Just like the one's we used to Know??

Mac, I understand that we shall be receiving an 'extra' £60 in January, to help with The Heating ??
 Not sure if it is True ??

Yes Phoenix it is true,they have brought the increase in pensions forward from April,so we get a lump sum in January,followed by the rise in april of £5.25 (I think)
and dont forget the £10 bonus
For Gods sake dont spend it all at once !!!!!

Lucky you - German pensioners don't get anything at all - on the contrary from January onwards the costs for health treatment and some taxes will raise.

Teri I wonder if thats because you get a livable pension to begin with ?
ask yourself this could you live on £90.70 a week, with the taxes alone that we have to pay, not to mention anything else ?
our rates alone are £1000.00 think about that and work it out  Undecided

Just because we have been in the E.E.C. since 1972, does not mean all countries/people are equal, as was meant to be. If it cannot be done in 36 years, will it ever  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
I believe that items on prescription, are about £7.10p. or more. Even the £10 christmas so called bonus from 1972, is an insult. The standards of living for people, re- income/outgoings, cannot be the same for all the 'european' countries, can it Huh --- My Eve, could not manage if she was on her own, and yes, she does own her own home.

Mac, I just checked it - 90,70 Pounds are about 120 Euro x 4 are 480 Euro. The minimum pension (rent for a flat included) amounts to 700 Euro - the amount a single person who gets income support gets is 347 Euro per month.
You see Germans aren't better off than Brits!

you could not pay the taxes here with that !
rates here are 90 a month (thats council tax) !
We dont live in luxury here Teri,we are taxed to the hilt believe me !
