Hello Folks!!!  How is life in the Fog Isles??? The weather looks ok according to the webcams. I see there is a lot of back-stabbing going on for Mr Broone, poor fellow. How unkind people are, saying he was wearing his Mr Bean outfit. I rather like Mr Bean.

I see gas is going up to match the record gas profits. Petrol is coming down here. They say it is because of the "Government Fund Over-recovery" which means that people have started buying less fuel and the gov is losing money compared to when petrol was cheaper but people bought more.

Everyone has gone quiet about Mr Mugabe, who says "we must tink .... Zimbabwe"  and now they have started drawing their bows for Mr Yes-WE-Can", poor chap. Mr Obama's honeymoon is over, now they will use the race card and get him all riled up into saying something he regrets.

So how is everyone over there?? All enjoying summer, I hope. My brother is in full summer mode .. taking photos of butterflies, feeding Red KItes and hurrying into town on his bike for a fresh loaf of bread. It must be nice to be retired, have too much money and a wife who still goes out to work.  The house is a show house tomorrow, you never know, we could soon be on the way to merrie England. I had better learn which way is east and how to wind a turban.

WE are OK, getting older with new aches and twinges, granny is the fittest of us all. I had better go and lock the gates, set the alarm, prime the muskets and enjoy all this freedem we have here now that the racist, fascist, colonialist bullies are no longer in charge and we can all get robbed at gunpoint, hi-jacked, murdered  and raped in the spirit of equality.

Have a great weekend, chin uop and y'all have fun now, hear!!!

The saddest thing is that, the world over, the bad things are happening, everyone sees it but nothing gets done about it. Special day here yesterday, a national strike to protest about low wages, high food, fuel and electricity costs etc. So no buses, trains or taxis and everyone has a day off. That shoul dimprove the economy.

Sad news here, Jacqui's little 5kG Maltese had a back op last year and had a disc taken out. She got over it well but has been yelping a lot lately when she walks. We took her to the vet and it's spinal again, with so much pain and pills that it would be no life for her so she has been put to sleep. I have had to promise her another little doggie when we get there.

Been looking into Shared Ownership again, and it looks quite promising. Pay 65000 for  a 50% share in a flat and 220 a month as the rent part. That is in Southsea and we are asured   it is not in the central Jamaican area!!

Meanwhile we soldier on, living in hope that we get a buyer soon and can come and join the National Benefit Association.

Happy days

We have been watching the house prices, they comtinue to fall but rentals are going up```. I found a website about people who buy to let and it is quite a shock to see the whole rental business from the other angle. It seems the ideal tenant is a couple with no pets, no kids and plenty of overtime, so they can pay the inflated rents being asked. One poor landlord (?) decided that his tenant could afford more so he upped the rent. They moved out and now 4 months later he still has his darling house sitting empty.
What goes round, comes round!!!

That is the answer, to being the perfect tenant?? keep   out of the home ?? No Smoking Inside either ??
What a world. Estimation of 40,000 homes will be taken back, by the end of this year. Is there no end to the problems for People Huh

John, the ideal tenant only exists in our dreams. My mother had a tenant and when he moved out the appartement was in such mess that we had to invest more than 40,000 euro to get it "habitable" again - that's the reverse of the medal as we in Germany say!

You would think there would be a national plan, wouldn't you? The banks all lend too much money to too many too poor people on property wehich is not worth it's asking price and then nothing!! So people start losing their homes and whose fault is that. Surely we all know that costs go up faster than wages. There was one woman on Sky News who was about to lose her home on which her repayments were 2300 a month. How many people can pay that and the usual increases. 2300 plus insurance + Council Tax + + + + Does nobody do a viability study before these loans are granted. The last thing that banks want is to re-possess because it is loss of income and in today's financial climate loss of capital. But the government even bails the banks out so it is only poor old Joe Bloggs who loses out and he will be off  to buy his copy of "The Beginner's Guide to the Benefits System". It is all so sad, and it is sickening that the blame cannot really be placed firm and fast at anyone's feet.

Over here, the property market has started to move again, petrol is coming down and with 2010 Football on the way the country has to show signs of prosperity. People are still buying huge pick-up trucks with which to impress each other and it seems everyone has faith that the Arabs will wear brass jewellery and oil will be cheap again.

I see you have a range of mortgages there, there is even one where all you pay is the interest so the house will never be yours. But that is not a cheap option either.

Jacqui is becoming very excited about a little place at the coast. We are a showhouse again next week so keep fingers crossed for us.

Have a nice evening
