i did a piece on another site about when we were
kids, of making `barrows`. it went down a bomb in
Canada & the U.S.A. did you make `barrows`out of
old boxes & pram wheels, when you were young ?
the fun of collecting all the items for making
our barrow. someone `borrowed` the pram wheels,
next the `box`, the old saw from `dads` toolbox.
four or five of us all had a part to play, one
taking out the nails, and straighten them. next
getting a poker to heat up for the hole,to steer.
assemble the barrow, now who is to drive it down
down the hill, the one who provided the wheels...

Yes I did make barrows but we called them buggy's and the greatest achievement was making one you could steer with string attached to the front axle We had a big field near us with a steep drop which was great fun but not good for my buggy

did not know girls made them as well. Joe,were you part of THE TEAM, or an all girl group. yes Maurice we had rope to
steer ours, and i forgot the most important part, the BRAKE.i can remember as if it was yesterday.
as i lived in `cabbage island` we used to raid allotments,
then with mothers old frying pan, go over the fields, then
collect wood make a fire & dry fry these vegtables. they
were black as the ace of spades, but we ate them.those were
the days,my friends.......................................

We used to call em bogeys  -- the pram wheeled varieties we made  -- lethal down our steep hills !
Yes -- we were a small village so lads and lasses were just part of the family  -- where would we have been playing cricket without em !
Some good bowlers amongst the girls too !

We skipped together too -- us lads joining in in turn and turnoing the big cart rope !

Skipping rhymes  how many of those can we remember ?

" Lady , Baby,  Gypsy  ,Queen   in trying to foretell  future spouse  etc
What would she be dressed in ?

Silk satin , muslin ,rags      --- etc  etc --- come on Phoenix what do you remember -
--were these "the good old days ?"
