Do you buy your groceries online? Well, you may be pleased to know that Amazon is now selling groceries via their internet site but ... my goodness! Have a look at the delivery charge! The Daily Mail tested it out. A shopping bill of ?110.79 plus a delivery charge of ...
wait for it!
?92.55!!!

I understood that you could elect to have an annual delivery charge of 49.95 and then that was it, it looks good if you want to buy everything in bulk but not sure about a normal weekly shop.

Where I live you can go in the shop, select the goods you want to buy or pass your order by phone and have them delivered to your home at an extra of 5 Euros.
When I'm ill I always use this service - it's quite comfortable.

We have not tried, 'shopping on line' yet, but are getting very close to it, as our walking becomes harder.

I like Amazon for books and CD's and sites like Tesco and Sainsburys are good if you buy a lot of heavy shopping or cannot get out to the shops. Sometimes the "use by" dates are not too good but then I find it is the same in the shops.

With regard to food shopping, we find it an annoyance to constantly see "use by and best before" Whatever happened to good olde fashioned "Common Sense" -- I know 'Long Time Dead' There is far too much food thrown away and there is nothing wrong with it. Trials have taken place to verify this and I believe that the good olde eu ?? is going to have those dates deleted, because of the incredible waste.
Don't forget it's Big Business, to make the shoppers buy more and more.

You are right, my mother use to do a weekly shop on Saturdays and that lasted until the next Saturday. Now you would be lucky to find a week's worth of shopping with sale by/use by dates that would last that long!

Only with the exception of "Cravendale Milk" which will last seven days. Shame that bread does not last long, we find it soon goes off. Good article in tuesdays daily mail, about 'Wholemeal bread' it is not as good as has been suggested and had bad problems regarding Gluton. Those bad syptoms are those that my parter Eve, suffers from, so consequently No more Wholemeal bread.
Had to stay healthy with todays food, as so many products included are Bad for us Humans.

to those who have yet to try on-line shopping believe me it is a boon.
Here in the village my normal shop Sainburys didn't do home delviery, so when Paul was ill last year I used Tescos, wonderful, so easy you book a two hour slot when you want the goods delivered and so it comes to you in crates you empty them no bags.
now my usual supermarket Sainburys are delivering here even better and what makes things absolutely super is that they have all my "normal" purchases listed so I go down those buy what I want then buy extras if I need them. they deliver in carrier bags but take them and any others you have away to reuse.
on-line shopping if you can do it gives you time to do other things and no queuing, no fighting over the last item on the shelf, no getting rammed by trolleys and definately no screaming kids.

Herbertina, You make it seem so Easy. We really must give it a try. Picking each item up five times, is rather a lot before being finally stored at home = for some peace. ---
Then there is that problem ?? What would we do with all that extra spare time. I have just shown Eve, your post and as she so rightly say's "it's the only time we get out" -- Am somewhat 'stuck' for an answer.

yes and that is what Paul said but I had an answer for that, with that spare time and extra petrol money you can have little trips you notmally wouldn't do so no excuse. and less stressful.

We had a look at Gluton free today, as some of Eve's problems could be Coeliac ?? but will have to await a blood test to confirm either way. Why is gluton fre bread priced at ?2.85.?? - Very pricey food if one has to have it.
Awiating the outcome before we consider 'shopping on line' -

We also do internet shopping, mostly for groceries from the likes of Tesco & Asda. We live in a first floor flat (appartment) and so we get them to cart it all up the stairs for us cos we're both past it.
