About 12 years ago we finished with the pub trade and moved into a lovely brand new flat, registered with everyone and everything as you do and after a few weeks a postcard came through the letterbox, very gloomy granite rocks and moorland, on the other side just a phone number and for Paul to ring them immediately, which I did, I was told that he must speak to them urgent after a few words they told me he owed a lot of money, I told them put it in writing.
A letter duly arrived telling Paul he owed a lot of money to a bank we had never used in any way shape or form, the letter went on to threaten what would happen if we didn?t make contact immediately and a agree a payment plan or pay in full, it didn?t hold back the threats were quite worrying.
So I went to Citizens Advice, I responded to this threatening letter asking for a complete history of the debt and on whose authority they were collecting, their next contact another threatening letter, my reply CAB were involved and any more threats would be dealt with through the courts with CAB?s help and assistance, now Christmas was coming and just before Christmas eve a postcard informing us that their Mr Smith (I kid you not) would be calling on us at 5.30 that day, no date second class post and through the Christmas Mail, we ignored it.
After the New Year two more threatening letters, nasty ones, well at the end of January I was given a computer for my Christmas and birthday present, my faithfully old portable typewriter was stored away and it was now time to fight back.
Have any of you seen the old Clint Eastwood ?Dirty harry? films, when he says ?Go on punk make my day? well that was me.
