Does your 1947 tenement apartment suffer from the kind of disease-bearing insects that thrive in filth? Why not protect your children from this infectious influence by wallpapering every surface with DDT-impregnated wall-paper? It's hygienic and stylish! Available with Disney trademarks!

It finished off the kids that the bugs couldn't. Little did we know in those chemical filled days.

Have read a book long ago, called "Silent Spring" by a woman whose name I cannot recall. The book referred to the use of D.D.T. and how it infected the wildlife and got into the rivers and streams. This was during the 50s. when we lived at Leicester and saw some dead fish in the river soar.
So little is mention about farmers using chemicals today, but there seems to be less wildlife about.

I think they've cleaned up the rivers but I don't know about the farmers and what pesticides they use. I must admit we seem to have a lot of wildlife around here, you should see them walking the streets at night,  not many are sober and they all have 2 legs.  Grin

DDT WAS THE BE ALL TO END ALL BUG KILEER. ITIT WAS SPRAYED ON CROPS REPEATEDLY, THEN LO AND BEHOLD IT WAS BANNED, IT WAS FOUND TO BE KILLING WILDLIFE, AND AS FAR AS I UNDERSTAND IT WAS ALSO GETTING INTO THE FOOD CHAIN.WE HEAR OF SUCH A LOT OF CANCER CASES THESE DAYS, I OF TEN WONDER IF THERE IS ANY CONNECTION.WE SHALL NEVER KNOW.

Thankfully, we do not go out at night, to see any two legged 'wildlife' but sure read lots about them, in our local paper. Thats more than enough, to keep any normal person Indoors.

Hi Dalerite, Great to know that you are still around and hope that you are well. As you so rightly say, "We shall never know, IF there is/was any connection.

No one would admit it, even if it happened, it does make you wonder though how do they know it isn't still around in our soil and waterways.
