Millions face fuel poverty

It is the same every winter, people don't have enough money to keep their homes warm, I can remember before we had central heating thinking great not to be cold again when we had it installed.I bet I'm not alone, it doesn't work out that way, many have to restrict the time its on. I did wonder whether going back to an open fire or log burner would be cheaper.

We have had our heating on for most of the year as i feel the cold really badly these days.
It has been on full for about 2 months and I am dreading the bill.
Speaking to most of the power companies the advice seems to be the costs are set to climb way up yet.
One bloke said " move somewhere warmer"

Frank said our bills are to soar next year, we've had them on a fixed rate so I'm dreading it. Last winter was so cold one old boy said to me don't get old I just can't get warm. Well he's too late to tell me that and I noticed in the summer he looked quite sprightly, except on the very humid days, It was difficult to see his face last year he was so wrapped up.I can't move as much as I'd like and its then you feel the cold as well as feeling tired most of the day. If we all had the money to move we wouldn't mind the cold, its money thats the problem, not the cold.

Heating, is a very sore point for many people, especially should one really feel the cold. We have to have it on, as Eve really does feel cold so often. Heating costs far too much and the companies really are, scooping in the profits with no letup. Everything will be going Up, at least for April 6th.

It is disgraceful that we should even have to think about keeping warm, its all greed, and the government know it,thats why they give us the ?250 pittance really, but better than nothing,be better if I didnt have to pay tax now I am over 60,I could put the heating on more.
I guess there are other things more important in this country.......like benefit scroungers.

Thats so true Cath after all if we didn't keep warm we'd die sooner saving them a packet. They have it all worked out.

The Gas meter reader called today, I have watched what they punch into their hand held recorders ever since one of them transposed the figures and we were asked to pay a queens ransom for the quarter.
I just love the sharp intake of breath and the shake of the head when they are asked to confirm the reading.
They forget old age and penny watching is only just round the corner for them also.

A 'Meter Reader'
Don't trust that idea today. We read our own and send in, when required. = Minimises the er?? Human element and the 'commody of errors' as previously experianced. Are 'we' stupid
Don't answer that.

It would be interesting to see if they could turn things around, although I guess you still get the pompous twits even at our age.

A Pensioners Party to run this country ?? -- This has been mentioned before, I believe last year when a member was trying to get ALL those 'parties' to work as one. Why does everything have to be Political ?? Yes, there will be people with all different idea's so why not call it a "Coalition Party"
Think of all that Business experiance there is, just going to waste.

We seem to have the meter read nearly every month, it probably isn't that but it seems like they're always here. I'd do the same in your shoes George, I bet that was a shock, trouble is its such a fight to prove them wrong, its never a case of oops sorry.
