Garden pests.

I don't mean my son, playing with the dog in the garden when the flowers are in bloom.

I no-longer use slug pellets and because the garden isn't too big, the slugs and snails are not winning.

Yesterday, I noticed a trail of ants and I know I have to be ruthless, otherwise, overtime, they will loosen my path flagstones. So thats a task for this afternoon.

As Ansu said in a post, "the weeds seem to like this weather", the same with the ants. The ant hills I have passed on my walks are numerous and mostly all active.  I'm just glad the ants are not bigger.

I found a trigger bottle of Jeyes Fluid in the shed so I squirted the beginning and end of the ant trail, and they appear to have moved on.  Where, I don't know.  (It was only a little squirt each end.)

The only other pest in the garden is next-doors cat, pee-ing on my dwarf conifers when it gets dark.

I've had very little slug/snail damage so far so am pleased with that. Even the strawberries hadn't been touched. (They are all gone now, I've eaten them).

The jackdaws are still ahead of the game but I am hoping once their young have fledged, they will be no trouble.

Hi Heritage, the answer to slugs is a hedgeho in the garden.
You can get advice on the net how to build a refuge for them.Getting them to come to your garden is another story.. It is a well known fact, the only hedgehog you see during daylight is a sick one.
I AM NOT A LOVER OF jACKDAWS, but they recycle all the food I dont eat.

You are right about the hedgehogs William.  They have come to the garden in the past. Within a short while there wasn't a slug or snail trail to be seen. Even the next door neighbours benifited because when their slugs and snails visited our garden, the hedgehogs ate them as well.

I didn't keep them in the garden for too long.  We have a little wild area behind our garden fence and I let them go.

I planted my garden in April. Since then, my cucumber plants have died. The stems had been hollowed through and there were ants crawling all over them. I have been told that the problem is probably slugs eating through the stems and the ants eating their slime.
Now it looks like my kale plants are infested with ants as well. Could this also be a slug problem as well? I'm not sure what to do about this. I'm going to replant my cucumbers and kale plants that have been destroyed, but i'm scared that they will get eaten again. I'm also worried about my other plants (I've got carrots, beets, a variety of lettuces, peppers, strawberries and more) will be eaten away too.
