Thanks Phoenix (I've only just spotted your reply!). There are a few more articles on my blog now. The latest one is about walking down on the farm. Bulls are good guys (probably). http://www.seniorwalkingfitnessblog.com

Hello Evac, I really appreciate your trying to help. As you say, all health articles are mainly for women -- which does make me a little angry. I must accept that I am being well looked after and have a new 'rollator' a four wheeler for going out with?? For indoors, on monday I shall have a walking frame and am keeping my three wheeler, for out in the garden, so well covered there to stop any falls, which have been many. Physio: is coming on monday again to give me some excersises, so am really hoping to ease the weight of my legs, which feel heavy with so much sitting. I am not complaining in anyway and am not in any pain, so am very lucky there. -- I just hope for more leg movement, Walking??

Hi Phoenix.  I may have mentioned this before, but my wife loves her Ijoyride. There is no weight on the legs and it gives her great exercise. It's not cheap, but she reckons it's worth the money many times over. http://www.ijoyride.co.uk/

I need to lose weight trouble is I've got breathing problems. I can do it in the summer I just love my fruit but come the dark days its comfort food I crave, mince pie or apple? no contest, pies do it all the time.I do walk the dogs so get some excercise but thats my limit, even climbing stairs puffs me out.

Shucks Val ??  Looking at that Dog, I thought I was looking at myself. I am full of a cold and bleary eyed to say the least. The must 'active' thing I am doing, is using Tissue's with great frequency. Have'nt had a cold for well over 20 years and I'd give it back, If I knew where it came from -- Alas !!   No Chance HuhHuh?

Get that cold checked out you've had it for awhile now, you might need something stronger to shift it.

I've just caught up with the query about keeping weight down at Christmas. You won't do it! Try and have a few walks. Don't eat yourself to a standstill and be sensible with alcohol. But you will still put on weight. Don't worry. Get back to a walking program and a more healthy diet afterwards and you'll lose it again. But only if you keep it up!

I see that swine flu jabs will be available soon. It looks as if your GP will decide who gets them. I suspect healthy older people will be last, as it seems more dangerous for youngsters and pregnant women.
