Mac I know just what you mean about the Royale family, I was disappointed in it too, it didn't live up to the same standard as the programs. I must admit I love my tele. I love the big cat programs and spring watch etc. Also gardening and I could go on, we have Sky so I can watch some American progs too. CSI and Law and order. I also liked the clash of the Santas, Robson Green and co, that was on over Christmas, it was funny.I do admit we haven't any comedians that can take the place of The 2 Ronnies or Morecombe and Wise but I'm ever hopeful some will turn up soon, I think even the youngsters are getting fed up with all the swearing it just isn't funny and with this credit crunch we need something to laugh at, besides the economy, that isn't laughter though, thats hysterics...

Val,did you watch the Big Cats in Africa recently on BBC,I found it fascinating you have to give it to the BBC when they do something they do it properly. They made them all come alive,we followed the cats and their off spring, some made it some didnt,so it was sad at times too.
I hope they bring it back.
I also like the dramas especially period costume dramas like Dickens and Candleford, and of course Jane Astin.

Besides the programmes you mention which I also enjoyed, I selectively watch Sky programmes to do with Nature, science, sport, history, geography. If only there were less commercial breaks..... I also watch some warfare programmes, which are often very good at showing the horror, cruelty, pointlessness of war, as opposed to the glorification and glossiness of war in some films of the past.

Yes I did mac and the presenters are just great, you can tell they love what they do, Simon King is a real favourite of mine, he's not only very knowledgeable but sensitive and a gent. A lovely man.
Norman did you see the program on last night about Afghanistan? It was on the BBC. It showed our troops out there doing a great job as it really is not glossing over the conditions they live in either. I taped most of it for my daughter, we never realised it was on.

Yes Val, programmes like that are very educational and show who the real heroes are, and how despicable Bush and Blair are ( IMO of course!)

Oh yes I did and was so sad when one of them died but at other times it was funny. Our dogs look like meercats at times and if they're being naughty we say they're from the dreaded lazulei [or however its spelt].
Norman its a fact the soldiers themselves get called names in civvy street for fighting out there and it should be the politicians who are to be blamed. The RAF are now being encouraged to wear their uniform off base, can you believe it, the uniform isn't recognised, my daughter has been asked what she's in, many times when in uniform.I'm so proud of our forces, I've sent a small donation to Help for Heroes, I couldn't afford much but I'm sure it all helps.

Hello mac
We just bought a Sky+ box between us, and it is fantastic, so easy. Hope your freeview box is similar, freeview+ is it? No more tapes or DVD's, unless you want to record that way. You just highlight your programme on a banner and press R. Lots of hard disc space. Fastforward to miss jingles. You can also pause and rewind live TV I believe, we're just getting used to it. Brill brill!

We looked into getting one but sadly they don't have the choice that we get with our Sky package, no gardening, no Hallmark and no nat Geo wild, the 3 programs I watch on Sky. My lad has a freeview box in his room but he's a bit disappointed with the limit of programs.
