Electronic Books

Electronic Books or e-books as they are more popularly known, are one of my passions.
These are good for people with poor eye sight, arthritis, or handicaps of some kind.
They are very easy to acquire and pay for, and can be stored on your PC's hard drive until you have finished reading them.
Then you can either delete it or save it to read again some other day.
I am currently reading 'Lord Jim' by Joseph Conrad.
It was made into a film back in the 60's or 70's and starred Peter O'Toole and James Mason.
The e-book I have is a classic, written in 1900 and was free.
Most of the classics you can get for free in e-book format.

Hi Barry, That sounds interesting. We both love reading, so may well give it a try.

I aught to say that these ebooks are downloaded in PDF format and an installed reader is required, such as 'Adobe Reader' for PC?s so that it will recognise the document as text.

This is another link to a site that is very often used by the BBC and used to be used by 'One Word' till it closed down.
It's Naxos Audio Books and can be found at:-
www.naxosaudiobooks.com
I've never used Naxos but I have known of its existence for a while. I think all their books are in MP3 format and are downloadable.

And you are saving the planet at the same time. Modern e-books are a bit harder to find. Online publishers come and go, and take the poor old author with them if they go. The quality is there though with the best publishers. They keep rejecting my novel, so they must be selective.

Well, we've all got until 20061 then. My Grandmother said she wouldn't bother to look for it in 1986 because she'd seen in in 1910.

Thanks tilly. They tell me it's a percentage game, just keep at it. I can find publishers for short stories okay, so I must be doing something right.

Found a publisher for my children's novel 'The Horse Painters'. It's about the Ice Age. Now the work begins!
