Chris, You certainly was Lucky!! I often wonder just what makes some people, lose their mind and want to hurt or kill ??
is it something in the food ?? Where else would that feeling come from?? -- Is it not better To Help, than to hurt ??

Yes I must agree it is better to help than to hurt. But some of the drugs they give people these days leaves alot to be desired, and I have, and always will blame the drugs that my ex partner was taking for the destruction of our relationship back then.
The worst people to see in pain are the babies and the elderly, the youngsters cannot explain what their pain is all about, and the elderly put their lives in the hands of Doctors that are sometimes questionable in their diognosis of the the problem that they face.

Hi Chris, We must have belief in someone, more so with our Health and Care. Sometimes dreadfull mistakes are made, but then, is that not why second opionions are available ??
To make sure the diagnosois, is correct, the correct medication given and the correct operation carried out ??
Some articles that we read about, are Terrifying, should this happen to us and our families:

What has happened to the care in our hospitals. In days gone by you went into hospital and were treated and in most cases you were cured. Not today, you now have a fair chance of getting an infection and coming out worse than you went in.

Standards have fallen dramatically in the cleaning department, Wards have been closed and still are ??
Am hoping that my appointment for immuglobulin drip, does not come. Last I heard was that Addenbrookes, had 13 wards closed. I wonder why the visiting hours are not reduced as it used to be, to enable the past hygienic standards to be brought back

They should bring back matrons and let the nursing staff be under her control, also the cleaning people should be employed by the hospital not outside agencies. I remember nurses doing cleaning themselves when the cleaner was absent or busy elsewhere. Mind you those were the days when nurses were not responsible for too many patients to care for properly

Yes !!!! Bring back the MATRON,,,okay nobody loved her but by jove she got the job sorted. No MRSA back in her day. Ruled with a rod of Iron, and should be there today to set the standards.

I do agree with what you are all saying but......
these bugs have mutated because people didnt take their antibiotic course, therefore they have become emmune to it.
Clostridium difcile (c/dif) is a little different but in the main is caused by not washing hands.
I agree 100% with the ward having their own cleaners, having pride in their wards too.Let us not forget nurses are NOT the same now as they were,we did as we were told, now they are there to observe for the first 3 years,18 months of that is now at uni.. and do you know why.........because we can all sue now if anything goes wrong !so no learners near me..............so how do they learn ?
The main thing that has been lost is RESPECT ! if you respect one another and more importantly the patients all will be well.

Oh!! Chris, You sure echo my feelings!! -- If a system really Works, Why alter it ?? Bring back The Matrons for full control!! Bring in Experianced Cleaning Teams !! Don't forget in is Not just hands that need a clean check, How about All Those Dirty Feet
?? Close some of the Visiting hours Down, just like it used to be!!
Here, we have more Wards Closed because of Sickness etc:
Addenbrookes Hospital had 13 wards closed!!
What would You Suggest and recommend
?
