Ok,have you been away this summer ?

Yes.  We took ourselves off to France in early May, but I suffered an attack of gastritis, so we had to return home.  This was not a "tummy bug" but was thought to be due to the overproduction of stomach acid - so I am now on Cimetidine which controls the above.

Originally I was put on Lasoprazole (for the same thing) but then got put on Warfarin for another reason, and the 2 of them produced a purple rash, so the Lansoprazole had to go.

Well, you did ask . . . .  ;)

Where have you been on holidays in France? It's funny I was on holidays in Wales and the bus driver told me that above all French visit the UK, particularly Cornwall. My favourite French region is the "Bretagne", but it's a bit far awy from where I live.

Where have you been on holidays in France?

Well .....   We have been to bits of Normandy, and quite a lot of the WW1 cemeteries, mainly the English and Commonwealth ones, but French, Belgian and German too. (We went to the Vladslo German cemetery near Diksmuide in Belgium but alas, the sculptures by Kathe Kollwitz (http://preview.tinyurl.com/8lzqm )were covered up to protect them from the weather.)

We explored a bit around Provence near Apt, and the lavender growing country round Sault, and drove up Mt. Ventoux.

And we like Alsace very much, but have only really been to the area around Colmar.  But we like choucroute or what I think you would call, sauerkraut.

I have been to Normandy some years ago and we were there when the D-Day celebrations took place. It was rather impressing.
As to the Provence, it's really a wonderful place with the sunflower and lavender fields. Did you also make an excursion to the Camargue?
I'm not living too far away from the Alsace (about a two hours drive). In summer the villages there look wonderful with all those flowers. Have you also tasted the Gugelhopf and the Flammkuchen? The Flammkuchen is my favourite, as we in Germany also cook a lot of Sauerkraut in winter.

Mac, but certainly you are not longing for "Sauerkraut", but for roastbeef and Yorkshire pudding!

Why do you want to see the kitchen first? Don't you grill in the garden? I have an electric grill there and in summer I use it.

Mac, what a shame, hasn't William asked you yet? I thought he had asked you and you had refused to come. He must be an expert for roastbeef. However, the Yorkshire pudding I think he buys a frozen one.
I had the last Yorkshire pudding in Wales with lamb. It was delicious!
