Not Dead Yet - Forum

I posted this topic on another forum today and I wondered what your thoughts are. Daughter had to collect my grand daughter Claire from school today. She apparently when Jane got to school it appears most of the class were sent home. The reason beingthat Claire was due to have a science lesson, they entered the laboratory to find some young s*d had turned on all the gas taps!! Good job no one clicked on a light switch!
The consensus of opinion was that either the room should be locked between lessons or that the teacher from the previous class should have checked when her pupils had left the room.
What do you think?

Hi Betty, The problem of Today, is just where does one's Responcibility begin/ends??? The safety factor arises here, Is it The teacher's job to check ALL is safe for the next class ?? Could  anyone smell gas ?? --  In reading so much about childrens 'misbehaviour' in school ?? Then maybe ?? a little 'commonsence' should have been called for ?? -- Gas, being so 'lethal' would only have taken a few moments of the Teacher's Time ---- The school and Lives, could well have been Lost -- Just because of "Lack of Thought" and a few Seconds of Time ??

I have just watched the News at Ten and can you believe it they are all waiting for the outcome of the lord mayor of london vote,well up north who the hell cares ? unless you travel to london and have to pay the charges to go into london that the present mayor has sanctioned,probably to finance some other project like second homes or travel etc.
I turned it off i had had enough lol

Hi Teri, No need to say sorry!!   --- I truelly am a Silver Surfer!! -- Soon I shall have little else -- A Computer is a life - line for so very many senior's -- Perhaps some do not like Forums. Our new comer's don't seem to like Postings??????

Some told me it's too complicated and to be honest at the beginning I also had problems. Being a silver surfer is no shame, on the contrary! German silver curls are rather lazy regarding the computer.

 We all found it quite hard!! But?? We did get there!!
Look at just how much Enjoyment we receive from being on-line??? As for trying a Forum?? Wow!! What problems we had in 'sorting ' it out (all fingers and thumbs) ?? Was'nt it FUN ;D ;D ;D  But we got there in the end!! But even in saying that?? There is No Limit -- We can Enjoy THE WORLD!!

I must admit without a car I wouldn't go out in our town at night. In England we have the ludicrous situation, that if I went to help someone and I hurt them, I would be the one to be prosecuted, the yobs would get off scot free.

I was appauled at the news footage on tv,this was at the night time and after a whole day of drinking by some not all,and who made the profits ? the supermarkets had the beer on the pavements ready for sale can this be right ?
I even know how much it cost £16 a crate ?
So why didnt they have it in Scotland ? since we the tax payers of england pay the scottish government a percentage of our rates/poll tax/community charge.
Sick of this country and its greed.

I listened to the radio that morning and all was really going well,in fact most of the day too and night,but when they got drunk the riot police went in and that was it !

As far as I know in Germany labatories are locked after the lessons by the teacher. As you say, it's much too dangerous if pupils are allowed to stay there without any supervision.

Quite Simple Really !! --- Just have to find the right type of person, that is 'capable' of accepting Responcibility -- Without expecting a rise in pay?? --

I am afraid teri, its a general malaise that is sweeping the western world, nobody wants resposibility, couldnt care less outlook, live for today, and who can blame them, in this uncertain world.

Mugabe "gets away with it" because it i s the "African Way" ...  he who has the longest spear is the boss. Everyone loves a winner so all the thugs and bullies gather around and protect him. If they didn't they would feel the length of the spear. Grace Mugabe is welcomed all over the world ecause she has money to spend.

Zimbabwe prevails only because they are supplied from South Africa and they pay less for fuel and electricity than the South Africans do. In order to provide the electricity South Africa buys it from Mocambique!!!

Mugabe is the same as all the other African "leaders", he doesn't want foreign interference, just foreign money. It is the African Way.

That is the tragic thing about Africa, it will never change. They want all the trappings of the modern world with none of the responsibilities. They are very quick to blame everything on the "legacies of Colonialism" but if you ask which culture or government style they admire the most then they cannot tell you. There is no sense of quality, of lasting beauty or heritage. Things are built only to fall down or decay. I love Europe and look forward to seeing more. I loved Berlin, such atmosphere, such history. Yet modern youth probably sees no beauty at all. Know what I loved the most about Berlin??? After then 22 years in Africa I loved kicking up rotting leaves in the Tiergarten and touching old buildings. Feeling the damp and age of things. London is the same, there is something constant about Europe which you will not see in Africa. If the people here had the mentality that admires things of value it would be a different place but they do not. I think when you are from Europe you left your footprints on the ground and will always go back one day, because it is where your heart is.

Hi all. Glad to hear you are having fun, mac. We are off to look at the tricyclrs tomorrow, they have a whole herd of them!!!  Petrol Just went up again, it is about 65p a litre now. That might sound cheap but everywhere is so far apart. Have fun!!

Yes, mac. Three wheelers with two wheels at the front and the box. There is another type with the single wheel at the back but they don't have those. Although the box at the front is slightly less elegantit is easier to convert because the chain mechanism is standard and there is room to get the motor on. Should be plenty of room for batteries and the shopping box too although to begin with I will jusrun it from batteries in the box.
Once again we didn't see them as the owner was out and she has the keys to the store. But there is no hurry. It is something to look forward to!!!  I see Tvangerai got arrested twice yesterday in Zim.... can you imagine Cameron being jailed twice when the Election is due??? Only in Africa... such things really do not seem strange anymore, they really don't.

No Eastenders tonight, what will we do?? Have a nice weekend all.

Went to the local supermaket for potatoes saturday. There was some new ones, grown half a mile from me, they needed washing and scraping,they were delicious.While iwas picking  them out, the number of people came and picked up these baby potatoes washed and in plastic bags. Are people too busy to wash and scrape a few potatoes, supporting the local farmer at the same time.
A farmer on the local radio this morning, said, thet used to throw very small potatoes away,now they are big business.

William i think they taste better with the soil on them !

NO!!  people are not TOO Busy!!   Just Lazy -- That Is progress!! -- Wonder what 'they' do with the time they have Saved ?? --- Small Potatoes ???  what we used to call 'pig potatoes' only good to feed the pigs on ?? Now Nothing gets 'thrown away' it ALL makes someone MONEY!!

Ah, that reminds me - in Wales we often got small boiled potatoes with the peel (Schale) and people ate them as they were. In Germany we remove the peel before we eat them. The first evening I removed it, but it was a laborious work, the next times I ate them as they were, but it tasted a bit strange.

Teri,the Irish cook all their potatoes with their skins on !if people dont like the skins they peel them after they are cooked  and this only takes a few minutes.They do this with the potato on the fork and peel with the knife !they boil them till they are very soft and are delicious.

At home we do this, too, but in the hotels or restaurants we get them peeled. However, in Wales all ate them with the skin.

It is said. "The Goodness, is in the Skin" ?????

We say directly under the skin - only with apples it's usually in the skin - but you can't eat it any longer as they use such a lot of poison to get bright apples.

Canna beat a little 'Toxocity' ?? perhaps that is why there are so many more, Illnesses Today ??? Deliberate ??

Prince Charles spoke out the other day about GM foods,and the critics,for what they are worth,have been kind so far but one said it is necessary !
I agree with the prince.

I don't know what Prince Charles said, but some weeks ago I watched a report on BIO food on TV and if I imagine that my BIO veggies have grown in and come from China, the meat and cheese from Roumania and Bulgaria, then I prefer our normal local veggies - there I know what I'm eating.

I think all GM food tastes the same bland !
We dont have many flies or birds or ladybirds or bees,or butterflies I could go on and on,I wonder if this GM thing has killed them off ? however we will be to blame for polution I guess.
I was lucky enough to have a friend in Pembrokeshire who brought me some home grown pembrokes spuds...........blimey I had forgot what they tasted like I ate them just on their own to savour the taste delicious ! with a knob of butter.
GM spuds wont be the same again.

When my father was still alive he always grew potatoes, but now I have to buy them. However, the potatoes of our region are o.k. You can choose between different sorts.

Will  anything be the same as it was ?? I doubt it!!

Times and conditions of living change quickly nowadays. My aunt always says that when I was a child I hated to go shopping and one day when I had to go shopping again I told my grandfather that one day we mustn't go any longer shopping, we just will eat pills......

Mac, imagine what we would miss - that smell in the kitchen when you are cooking a good meal- and the veggies and salads that look and are so tasty!
