Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: Kes on July 23, 2007, 10:44:16 AM Three sisters ages 92, 94 and 96 live in a house together. One night the 96 year old draws a bath. She puts her foot in and pauses. She yells to the other sisters, "Was I getting in or out of the bath?" The 94 year old yells back, "I don't know. I'll come up and see." She starts up the stairs and pauses. "Was I going up the stairs or down?" The 92 year old is sitting at the kitchen table having tea listening to her sisters. She shakes her head and says, "I sure hope I never get that forgetful," as she knocked on her wooden table for good measure. " She then yells, "I'll come up and help both of you as soon as I see who's at the door." Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: Skeggy on July 23, 2007, 02:30:05 PM Mmmm seems we have some confusion here.... the best way I've found to find which area to post your message in is
Step 1. click on forums in nain menu column down the left hand side of the page step 2 this will bring up a list of subjects ( example quizes and games, debate, general discussion jokes etc. choose the one you want , for instance the cricket posting really needed to go in gereral Discussion and Kes's joke needed to go in the jokes forum . 3 once you have got the section up look for a line that will show up in red ink, if you are in the General discussion area it will read like. Not dead yet-forum-senior topics-general discussion, click on this and if you look around you'll see new topic just click on that...i must abit i had difficulty when i first started here... another tip, if you want to find answers to you post look out for the line replys to your posts Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: Phoenix on December 21, 2007, 04:46:25 PM The People's of The World, all did that, before Cutlery was Invented!! -- Turn The Clock Back?? - Yes!! but only to The 60/70s. Before the world went Mad!! Systematically, over those few Decades, is 'sliding' downwards. There is by far -- Too Many Bad problems Happening, and very few Good one's taking place. Is 'that' Learning by Progress??
Not in my Estimation!! --- From The Year, 1990. Can you state any worthwhile, Historic Event, that has taken place ??? Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: ansu on December 21, 2007, 07:27:42 PM I didn't want to get you upset, Phoenix, but I read some books about history since I'm retired and some centuries were really interesting ones - above all in England!
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: william on December 21, 2007, 09:54:33 PM We have all learned from our past experiences and are wiser for it.We have a lot to offer the world, but do they want to listen,No
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: Phoenix on December 21, 2007, 10:50:49 PM Hello Teri, No Problems!! - Takes a lot to upset me.
History, is a very exciting subject, either by Reading or from The Computer. Very Educational!!-- From as far back, as one would wish to go: Hello William, Personally, I trust we have all learned from our 'past experiances' and being somewhat wiser?? Hope that we can help othere's, Not to make the same mistakes!! Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: ansu on December 22, 2007, 09:18:56 AM William, that depends - in Germany they make tests, i.e. pupils discuss with people in senior homes and as far as I learnt both sides are very happy.
When reading books about history I realised that - although we always complain - we still live under pleasant conditions compared to the conditions ruling in the Middle Age or earlier. When my grandmother talked to me about her childhood and youth I couldn't imagine it, but now that I'm older it's much easier to understand it. Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: william on December 23, 2007, 10:32:45 AM When we talk of hard times,we are very lucky, compared to w
hat our parents and gparents lives were like. it is good that your children visit and talk to the elderly. Title: Re: Is it my age? Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: Phoenix on December 26, 2007, 10:52:47 PM Should We accept that 50% of wishes for The New Year, would go a long way to Helping!!
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: ansu on December 27, 2007, 01:04:36 PM Sometimes it's up to us to give a helping hand.
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: Phoenix on December 28, 2007, 02:10:26 PM Depends on which hand is wanted!!
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: ansu on December 28, 2007, 09:38:05 PM That's true, but I always take the buttons on my blouse and count - right hand, left hand, right hand etc. (joke)
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: Phoenix on December 28, 2007, 09:42:47 PM Teri, Thereby hangs a tail ?? Due to a worn Disc in my Neck, which has 'Trapped' a Nerve?? My left hand is not as it should be. My two last fingers are almost knumb, sometimes I have to ask my Eve to do up, or undo shirt buttons.. Shoe laces?? Forget it!! I sure do have to Laugh about it, when having a 'struggle' -- Well, what else can I do ????
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: ansu on December 29, 2007, 09:10:53 AM Sorry, I didn't want to tread on your toes (nahetreten) - but think of all those persons whose brain doesn't function any longer as it should. As to the shoes, what about buying "slippers" (joke)!
Phoenix, as you said to me "enjoy every day", you are right, we must enjoy every day - look around you for enjoying the sunshine we do neither need hands nor feet and as for me, a bright sunshine lifts my spirits enormously! Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: william on December 29, 2007, 04:54:03 PM I agree we should enjoy every day but sometimes things go wrong, then it is not easy. Then we have to make the best of things.
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: Phoenix on December 29, 2007, 10:58:24 PM Surely most of us, enjoy every day, as best we can.
But as William say's --- Sometimes 'things' really Do Go Wrong, with our Best Intentions, of putting them right!! I am Thankfull, of waking up each morning. 1/ To put the heating on. 2/ To get my Eve, Tea and biscuits. ---- As long as I am UP First!! No Complaints!! but t'is hard to get wide 'awake' ?? Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: mac on December 30, 2007, 07:01:05 PM this is the life! when you can stay all day like this lol
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: Phoenix on December 30, 2007, 09:55:56 PM Mac, cannot believe that of you?? Would be Boring!!
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: william on December 31, 2007, 07:51:57 PM Isnt it strange, the more visitors you get, the more lonely you feel after they have gone.
No pleasing some folk. Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: Phoenix on December 31, 2007, 11:23:08 PM Hello William, I do agree with that, in having 7 years on my own (20 years ago)- visitors would look in,to see if ok.
But when they have gone, just a short while after. The world closes in ---- and yes, one feels more lonely than ever. My peaceful time was at night. Music playing, Lights Out and me in my rocking chair. - That is the short version: Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: mac on January 01, 2008, 01:09:19 PM Yes it is strange William
I wonder if it is because they visit you meaning its not us/you thats going out ? I dont feel the same when it is me thats been out, dont know if you will understand all that ::) Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: ansu on January 02, 2008, 06:46:24 PM But don't you sometimes feel relieved if your visitors have gone and all was realling going like a clockwork and you can now have some moments for yourself, just to let the hours, day or weekend pass again before your eyes?
Over Christmas I had a so-called full house and before Christmas I was so nervous and asking myself, will all be o.k., then I enjoyed the time with my visitors, but when they were gone I first made a hot cup of tea and sat in my armchair just to relax a little bit after that "stress". Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: Phoenix on January 02, 2008, 09:59:00 PM I BELIEVE THAT WE ALL 'SUFFER IN SILENCE' WITH THE PREPARATION AND GIVE A 'SIGH OF RELIEF' WHEN OVER AND CAN SITDOWN AND RELAX WITH A 'CUPPA' ??
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: mac on January 03, 2008, 01:27:56 PM Same here Teri it was great to have them all here
but I am set in my ways now after 10 years alone. Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: ansu on January 03, 2008, 09:25:33 PM Mac, you look so enterprising (unternehmungslustig) .......
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: mac on January 04, 2008, 01:42:51 PM Do you mean in my nightie Teri ;D ;D ;D
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: Phoenix on January 04, 2008, 04:54:59 PM Mac, As we are still 'early' into The new year?? and with a 'touch' of humour?? -- Teri, could well mean -- In your nightie?? -- Well, you did put yer Picture on show ::) ::) ::) ::)
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: ansu on January 05, 2008, 12:19:59 PM I meant by saying entreprising - you have much ideas and you have a lot of activities - you know it's sometimes difficult to find the right word.
As to your activities when wearing the nightie - in Germany we say the "singer is silent for reasons of politeness". Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: mac on January 05, 2008, 02:07:59 PM lol my nightie is for "slobbing" in ;D
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: Phoenix on January 05, 2008, 04:27:25 PM " THE SINGER IS SILENT FOR REASONS OF POLITENESS"
I LIKE THAT ONE TERI!! I WOULD GO FOR THE 3 Rs. REST! RELAXATION! AND RESUSITATION??? -- LADIES HAVE TO RELAX ? ::) ::) ::) Title: Re: Is it my age? Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: ansu on January 06, 2008, 06:40:21 PM William are you smoking? What an unhealthy custom.
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: Phoenix on January 06, 2008, 08:21:13 PM Teri, Smoking Unhealthy?? There are far worse bad habits and customs. I enjoy a Cigarette and will continue, as I have for the last 19 years!! -- I frown on all the comments about 'passive' smoking and am quite sure that I could find fault with 'non smokers too!!
Everybody has fault of one kind or another and we all stand to be critised --- for something?? --- Me?? I just let people do what they want to do with their life, as long as 'they' leave me and mine ---- Alone !! If I was in a Naturist Club?? I would carry my 'ciggies' in my shoulder bag. Ok. William!! No Club!! Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: ansu on January 07, 2008, 09:44:42 AM My father was a strong smoker and died of asthma due to his excessive smoking - so I perhaps have another view on this subject. However, as long as you feel comfortable it's up to you to continue or as we say in Germany "it's not my beer".
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: Phoenix on January 07, 2008, 01:05:08 PM It really was, quite natural for 'our parents' to Smoke and Drink!!-- when our wounded soldier's came back from Dunkirk -- The first thing Given was a Ciggy and Tea??
A lot of people did smoke then, why should they not?? Not Everything is Smoke Related !! Heavy Drinking as Done Today, is far more Damaging!! Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: mac on January 07, 2008, 03:06:28 PM Teri
Slobbing is a slang word comes from the word Slob, meaning to do nothing !!! yes lounge about if you like is ok Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: william on January 08, 2008, 03:08:26 PM Long time snce I had one of those kinda days Mac

Post by: william on January 17, 2008, 10:22:44 AM As the song says "count your blessings one by one. I got to two, couldnt think of any more.
Title: Re: Is it my age? Post by: ansu on January 17, 2008, 12:20:43 PM Phoenix, don't complain - there are such a lot of people living on earth that would be happy to only have your "blessings".
I don't know the song you are speaking of - I'm more the classical type - but I can assure you it's good to still be able to count one's blessings (have still the capability of doing it). One of my former collegues got pills after her cacer operation that rendered her incapable of finishing a sentence - in the middle of the sentence she didn't know any longer what she was speaking of - it was terrible for her. Together with no visualisations in windows media. had to get a man in and has been ok for quite some time now. -- Other than that?? It might be your Firewall stopping the picture showing???
